ARTIST STATEMENT
I create art for my enjoyment, my improvement, for others to relish and I enjoy creating new worlds for people to explore and every detail within them. In my work I aim to build an engaging and fascinating world that my audience can fully immerse themselves in as one would a good book. Through cohesive illustrations and designs, I want to fully convey what kind of world I’ve created from the sprawling cities down to the smallest bug and show how it all comes together. This is what concept art does, it plans out and expresses a concept of world, character, environment, mood, story, just about anything that will affect visual aspects of a project. Most if not all visual entertainment such as animation, movies, and games need concept art to plan out how the project will look which is why it’s such an integral part of the art world that I have come to appreciate. The work that comes from this process on its own is something to marvel at as it shows the layers of thought and planning involved, like a stunning cross section of art.
Concept art is fast, fluid, it requires peer review and critique and detailed illustration before it takes on its final form in the finished project. I want to make concept art because I want to create something that is beautiful, unique, and enjoyable to look at. I want to work on a team with other artists to grow as an artist and form new ideas and designs that will become something people enjoy just as they enjoy their favorite cartoon character’s design.
